About
Anil Madhavapeddy is the Director of the Cambridge Centre for Carbon Credits. He is Professor of Planetary Computing at the Department of Computer Science and Technology in the University of Cambridge, and a Fellow of Pembroke College. At Cambridge, he is a member of the Environment and Energy Group at the Computer Laboratory, where he works on large-scale computation and sensing for environmental conservation. Anil obtained his PhD from the University of Cambridge in 2003 and his BEng in Information Systems Engineering from Imperial College in 1999.
Research
Anil’s research focuses on:
- Computer systems and programming languages with applications in global conservation and biodiversity
- Long term biodiversity monitoring
- Macroscopic monitoring of deforestation from space
- Leadership roles in the Cambridge Conservation Initiative, including co-directing 4C and the Centre for Earth Observation
