About

David Trippett is a musicologist and cultural historian at the University of Cambridge. He has published widely across musicology, philosophy, and media. From 2015–2021, he led the ERC project Sound and Materialism in the 19th Century, examining how materialist conceptions of sound evolved alongside romantic idealism. His work has received major honours, including the Lewis Lockwood Award, Alfred Einstein Award, Bruno Nettl Prize, and a Philip Leverhulme Prize.
