About
Jat Singh is a Principal Research Associate at the Deptartment of Computer Science & Technology (Computer Laboratory), University of Cambridge, where he leads the Compliant and Accountable Systems research group. Jat also co-chairs the Trust & Technology Initiative and he is a Fellow of the Alan Turing Institute. Jat undertook his PhD in Computer Science at the University of Cambridge.
Research
Jat’s research primarily focuses on:
- Realising Accountable Intelligent Systems (RAInS)
- Towards a legally-compliant Internet of Things
- Advancing Data Justice and Practice
- Developing resources to help policy-makers, practitioners and impacted communities gain a broader understanding of data governance
- Exploring methods and tooling for detecting harmful content (inc. hate speech), and developing governance regimes.
- Modern Slavery: Privacy, security and trust implications
- Legal Systems and Artificial Intelligence
- Contextual fairness in ML
