About

Malak is the Teaching Associate at The Centre for Human-Inspired AI (CHIA) at Cambridge University and has a PhD in Design Engineering from Imperial College London. She also has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering with a minor in Digital Media from the American University in Cairo in 2019, as well as a Master’s degree in Human Computer Interaction from the University of St Andrews.

While Malak’s background is more technical, her main interest lies with human-computer interaction, which has allowed her to also make use of her love of humanities, social science and design. Given her technical background, Malak enjoys working on projects related to AI and conversational AI especially.

Malak is now conducting mixed-method research into user-based, design-based, and product-based aspects. Her projects include: work for UN Women UK, Bold Insight, GlobeFlix, AIxDesign, and The Alan Turing Institute.
