CHIA’s Dr Malak Sadek Recognised with Imperial College London PhD Outstanding Thesis Award

Congratulations to Dr Malak Sadek, MPhil Deputy Director and Teaching Associate at the Centre for Human-Inspired AI (CHIA), on receiving the 2026 PhD Outstanding Thesis Award from the Dyson School of Design Engineering at Imperial College London. The award recognises exceptional doctoral research and is presented annually to outstanding PhD graduates from the School.
Malak’s award-winning thesis, Designing Responsible AI: Integrating Human Values into AI Design, explores how conversational AI can be better aligned with human values through participatory and collaborative design. Her research focuses on creating more human-centred AI experiences by bringing together perspectives from AI, human–computer interaction and design.
At CHIA, Malak serves as MPhil Deputy Director and Teaching Associate, where she contributes to teaching, research and student experience. Her work closely reflects CHIA’s mission to advance human-inspired AI by ensuring AI systems are designed with people, values and real-world needs at their centre.
